While we were very excited about getting married, we are environmentally conscious and the level of excess in weddings makes us uncomfortable. We wanted to be as sustainable as possible on our wedding. Mary wore a family dress passed down from her grandmother and mother, we had our rings made from re-purposed metals, and we cycled from the town hall to our reception. Having Save the Date cater for us meant that our wedding truly reflected our values, making us enjoy the day even more!

Ruth and James were amazing throughout the entire process. Our friends who we had spoken to about Save the Date leading up to the wedding thought it was such a great concept that they arranged for them to host a private part for Mary’s hen do when they were based in Dalston! This was a complete surprise to Mary and it was so great to have Save the Date involved with so much our wedding festivities.

Once we decided to go with Save the Date for our wedding, we handed everything over to Ruth and James. They liaised with our reception venue leading up to the day and we didn’t have to worry about a thing! Knowing that they were taking care of the food took a lot of stress out of our planning. We couldn’t choose what would be on the menu, since that we couldn’t entirely predict what would be donated. That was perfect for us – less decisions equals less stress! We spoke with Ruth and James about the type of food we enjoy and what dietary requirements would be present at the party and they promised to accommodate. We were thrilled to arrive at our reception to a buffet of delicious Mediterranean chicken stew and pepper goulash with sides of salads and bread. In addition to dinner, both meaty and veggie canapes were served throughout the evening. The only thing on the menu that wasn’t food waste was our cake. Our tiered cake was cherry and cardamom and chocolate Guinness. The food was such a hit! It is still talked about as one of the memorable features of our wedding.

We highly recommend Save the Date for wedding catering. They are much more affordable than most other caters, but that is not why you should choose them. Catering with Save the Date means that you will reduce the environmental impact of your big day while supporting a fantastic not-for-profit without cutting any corners on quality.

When we got married in February 2018, we were looking for ways to make our wedding as environmentally friendly as possible. Having come across Save the Date London through a newspaper article, we contacted them for a catering quote. We loved the idea of using food that would otherwise be thrown away!
Ruth was very helpful and friendly and happy to work with our food requests: an all vegetarian menu, with pasta, and a not-too-spicy child-friendly option. The food was delicious and full of flavour – we had a vegetable ragu pasta with roasted veggies, salad, and focaccia. Ruth also very helpfully directed us to two companies that we used to hire plates and glasses and to buy biodegradable take-away containers (for our guests to take leftovers home!)
We highly recommend Save the Date as your caterer for any occasion!

My husband and I got married on 6th June 2017 and we asked Save the Date to cater for our 110 person reception at the London Canal Museum. I asked them to provide soft drinks and a mainly vegan/vegetarian buffet. The soft drinks were a refreshing homemade lemonade and a mint drink, both delicious. It was so exciting to receive our buffet menu the day before as the nature of using food that would otherwise be wasted meant we didn’t know exactly what we’d be getting. It was all amazing, tasty and plenty of it to go round. Our guests still talk about how great the food was! Ruth and James couldn’t have been more helpful and they even helped us sort out some local beer from a craft brewery which went down very well. Would highly recommend especially if you are after a sustainable event. As an additional bonus it was great value as well!
